My week in Vietnam was a beautiful whirlwind of sights, sounds, and flavors. Starting in Hanoi, I was captivated by the city’s unique character, with its old buildings bearing Chinese characters and serene spots like the Confucius Temple. The history felt bittersweet, especially since locals no longer read the ancient script, but its beauty remains.
The natural scenery was just as stunning. Ha Long Bay offered breathtaking views of lush hills rising from the sea, while a visit to the Quang Phu Cau incense village was a vibrant, colorful surprise. I even tried my hand at crafting a non lá hat, a fun and humbling experience.
Heading south, Saigon felt like a different world—more international and alive, particularly on the lively Bui Vien Street. A peaceful cruise down the Mekong Delta offered a stunning contrast. Throughout it all, the food was a constant highlight. From fresh vegetables to light, spicy flavors, Vietnamese cuisine never disappointed. It was a journey that fed the senses and the soul.
