Blending love and adventure through a travel-first dating experience

Challenge

Traveling solo can be liberating—but also lonely, inconvenient, and sometimes unsafe. Existing dating apps didn’t meet the needs of young solo travelers seeking meaningful connections while on the road. The challenge was to design a platform that blends the ease of dating apps with the planning power of travel services.

Process

Motivated by personal experience and extensive user research, I analyzed solo travel pain points, reviewed existing platforms, and identified key gaps between dating and travel planning. The result was Gowitu, an app that combines Tinder’s swiping fun with Booking.com's practical features. I designed a clean, modern interface tailored to young travelers, with smart trip-matching, flexible scheduling, destination-based suggestions, and playful branding rooted in optimism and spontaneity.

Result

Gowitu creates a unique niche by connecting like-minded travelers based on destination, timing, and shared interests. Features like trip-based matching, suggestion tools, and seamless integration with travel partners (flights, hotels, activities) help users plan memorable journeys—with the bonus of romance. The concept was supported by a full brand identity and a playful campaign: “We met in… and you?”—celebrating the joy of finding love while exploring the world.
